Be safe in a crowd

Many of us are aware of possible dangers that may arise when we are by ourselves. This is why we get a tiny bit nervous being home alone or avoid going for solo walks at night. While crowds can give us a sense of comfort they can also pose a danger unless we are aware how to be safe in public places during an emergency. Some of us have heard of crowd gazes or stampedes which can occur when a mass of people tries to leave a place at once. There are also instances where innocent bystanders get hurt in acts of terrorist, or gang violence. While many of us have come to associate flash mobs as fun musical spectacles they can be also utilized as a mechanism of theft or other violence. When trying to stay safe in a crowd it is important to no live in fear. That being said it is best to be aware of your surroundings, and if you see or hear something that may be suspicious it is a great idea to report it. When in public places always develop an exit strategy, what is your best escape route if you need to leave in a hurry, or when the main entrance is blocked? AS the old saying goes, remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of sure, so try to prepare for a possible emergency before it happens. Take a self defense course or a take a CPR course so that you may remain level headed in a difficult situation. In an emergency it is essential that the proper authorities get notified, do not assume that someone else already called 911, call yourself or designate a specific person to do this. By following these steps you can ensure to stay safe in a crowd.

Few metals are associated with luxury more than platinum, but other than looking good, what else can it be used for?

Investment Instrument

Precious metals (particularly gold, silver, and platinum) have become some of the hottest investment instruments of the 21^st century. Platinum’s ever-rising industrial demand combined with its ongoing popularity as an ornamental metal make it an excellent choice for long-term investors who want to buy something that will reliably retain and gain value in coming years. Given the constant demand for this metal, selling platinum bullion to convert your holdings into cash should always be easy.

Heat-Resistant Component

Platinum has been used to make lab instrument since 1784, primarily because it is extremely heat-resistant so it is suitable for a variety of chemistry-related applications that often involve extreme temperatures. In fact, platinum has one of the highest melting points of any metal at 3,215 degrees Fahrenheit – for comparison’s sake, that’s more than twice the melting point of gold. Platinum is biologically inert, which means it can be inserted into the human body without leeching harmful substances or breaking down over time. A variety of biomedical applications depend on platinum to help improve and sustain patients’ quality of life. Although platinum is an expensive metal, the wires used in the medical industry are extremely small and lightweight, so they are still an affordable option for most healthcare institutions.

Automobile Equipment

Many automobiles use platinum-containing catalytic converters in their exhaust system to facilitate oxidation and reduction. Platinum’s heat resistance, durability, and oxidative properties make it the ideal metal for use in catalytic converters. It is used in combination with rhodium to clean the air leaving the exhaust by reducing NOx emissions. For this reason, catalytic converters are often bought from junkyards for a low price and then sold to dealers and brokers, who then sell the equipment to platinum refineries where it can be extracted and put back onto the market.
